History in the making - Huzur's Visit to Australia

Day 10 Highlights - 20/04/06

On the 20th of April 2006, Huzur (aba) and his entourage left early in the morning for Blue Mountains, a major tourist attraction around 110kms west of Sydney.

  • Once Huzur (aba) arrived at the Blue Mountains, he walked for a while till he arrived at the 'Three Sisters.' This is a rock formation with their heights ranging from 906 metres to 922 metres. The history behind these rocks makes the 'Three Sisters' so unique. The Aboriginal dreamtime legend has it that three sisters, 'Meehni,' 'Wimlah' and 'Gunnedoo' lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. They were turned in to stone to protect them, as they were not allowed to marry men from the Nepean tribe according to tribal law causing a major tribal battle. Since then, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock formation as a reminder of this battle for generations to come.
  • Huzur (aba) was briefed about this history while his Holiness enjoyed the view. He then had coffee before returning to Sydney at 1:30pm.
  • Huzur (aba) then came to the gents' food marquee at 2:20pm to share a BBQ with the Khuddam.
  • Huzur (aba) led Zuhr and Asr prayers at 4:30pm after which another Ameen Ceremony took place, but this time it was for all the children of Sydney. There were 31 children that had finished reading the Holy Quran for the first time, including 16 girls and 15 boys. Huzur (aba) asked each child very kindly and graciously to recite one or two verses from the Holy Quran. After this, Huzur (aba) left the mosque and everyone else enjoined various sweets and refreshments.
  • Huzur (aba) then led Maghrib and Isha prayers at 8:30pm, which brought an end to Huzur's (aba) 10th day of his historic tour of Australia.
